Dr. Somphat - The First Akha Doctor in Laos (and Thailand)

Dr. Somphat from a small Akha village in Muang Sing graduated from secondary school with excellent grades. GTZ in Muang Sing and we helped to gain him acceptance into the Lao National University Medical School. He was the first Akha medical student in Laos. He graduated and returned to the Muang Sing District Hospital where he now working. Dr. Somphat is the only Akha doctor in Laos and Thailand. Now Akha patients who do not speak Lao have a doctor who understands them.
